World Spine Day 2014: Spines and Signs
On the 16th October for World Spine Day students from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic embarked on a journey in Auckland city centre to talk to and educate the public about chiropractic and the importance of their spine.
Holding our model spines and brightly coloured signs we gathered interested glances as people strolled by. Obviously intrigued by thought provoking statements such as “is your power switched on?” and “how’s your nervous system?” We were repetitively asked “what has my nervous system got to do with my spine?” to which we were more than happy to explain.
We had a packed 2 hours of talking to the public about chiropractic with people ranging from all ages and all professions. We were even joined by little chiropractic wonders (aged 6 and 8) enlightening other children and even adults on the street about how chiropractic helps you obtain optimal health and potential.
The diversity of those interested in chiropractic, your spine and nervous system was amazing. We had so many highlights, which included hearing incredible success stories how chiropractic had helped so many. We even had people yelling “WE LOVE CHIROPRACTIC, WE GO ALL THE TIME FOR WELLNESS CARE”. We talked to those with concerns about their health, wondering if chiropractic care would help them. This included a martial artist who was told that he would most likely spend the later years of his life in wheel chair.
It was a wonderful opportunity to help educate the public what chiropractic is all about and just how important your spine is. We look forward to making next year’s event even bigger and let more people know that chiropractic taps into your body’s own ability to heal and helps you be the best you can be.
A warm thank you to all who were involved in sharing the world of chiropractic
